Charité – Universitätmedizin Berlin

Charité – Universitätmedizin Berlin

Charité is one of the largest university hospitals in Europe. All clinical care, research and teaching is delivered by physicians and researchers of the highest international standard. Charité proudly lays claim to more than half of all German Nobel Prize winners in Physiology or Medicine, including Emil von Behring, Robert Koch, and Paul Ehrlich. Charité is internationally renowned for its excellence in teaching and training.

Zuse Institute Berlin (ZIB)

Zuse Institute Berlin (ZIB)

The Zuse Institute Berlin (ZIB) is an interdisciplinary research institute for applied mathematics and data-intensive high-performance computing. Its research focuses on modeling, simulation and optimization with scientific cooperation partners from academia and industry.

TransNav: 3D multimodal navigation system for transvascular interventions

3D multimodal navigation system for transvascular interventions

In this project, a multimodal navigation system for transvascular interventions is developed. The system is designed to support the three essential phases of intervention – planning, navigation, documentation – through the use of patient-specific vascular and organ models. Improved planning and navigation shall enable complex procedures to be performed efficiently and with minimal risk. Automatic documentation shall contribute significantly to quality assurance.

Mathplus: Berlin Research Center for Mathematics

Berlin Mathematics Research Center

The Berlin Mathematics Research Center, is a cross-institutional and interdisciplinary Cluster of Excellence. It sets out to explore and further develop new approaches in application-oriented mathematics. Emphasis is placed on mathematical principles for using ever larger amounts of data in life and material sciences, in energy and network research, and in the humanities and social sciences.

ArtiCardio: Artificial intelligence based therapy support in cardiology

Artificial intelligence based therapy support in cardiology

By combining clinical knowledge from Charité with novel artificial intelligence techniques from Siemens Healthineers, anatomical population analysis from 1000shapes, and simulation of blood flow in Charité’s Biofluid Mechanics Laboratory, different therapeutic approaches can be individually evaluated by cardiologists or cardiac surgeons based on MRI. The treating physician receives fast, efficient and well-founded support in his therapy decision.

MODAL: Mathematical Optimization and Data Analysis Laboratories

Mathematical Optimization and Data Analysis Laboratories

MODAL is a public-private partnership project of the Zuse Institute Berlin (ZIB) and the Freie Universität Berlin (FU) together with 15 industrial partners. The MODAL research campus is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of the funding initiative “Research Campus – Public-Private Partnership for Innovation”. The MODAL research campus conducts mathematical research on data-intensive modeling, simulation, and optimization of complex processes from the fields of energy, health, mobility, and communication.

Research Center Matheon

Research Center Matheon

Matheon is a center for application-oriented research in mathematics. ITs focus is on the development of new methods for modeling, simulation and optimization of real-world processes in key technologies. Application areas include Clinical Research and Healthcare, Urban Infrastructures, Optical Technologies, Sustainable Energy Supply, and Geometry and Visualization. The scientists at Matheon cooperate in interdisciplinary projects with partners from science and industry.
